Maybe They Could Have Just Asked Nicely

The Iraqi police at the request of Iraq's puppet government (at the request of I-wonder-who) is attempting to expel every journalist from Najaf, at gun point no less ... which probably explains why hard news about the slaughter and the state of the seige is so hard to come by. Here's a snippet from The New Standard:

Police officers arrived at a Najaf hotel housing journalists and demanded they leave the city at once or face arrest. "You've got two hours to leave or we are going to open fire at you. It's just our orders," an Iraqi police officer told London Times reporter Stephen Farrell.

Reporters Without Borders has denounced the media blackout.
