Janis Karpinski, This is Your Life
You know, I just don't get the logic behind the Karpinski demotion (I mean from the point of view of spin; obviously, in terms of morality or justice or other antiquated notions, she should have gotten a hell of a lot more than demoted) ... It's not like the wolf pack has been circling around Rumsfeld lately. So why give her every reason in the world to spill her guts? (Actually, she's already begun spilling).
And this business with the shoplifting charge is like something out of Kafka. Preside over a living hell of organized depravity -- torture, beatings, rapes, garnished with the occasional murder -- get busted for dereliction of duty and shoplifting.
