Hostile Activities

Never saw this mentioned anywhere else besides blogs, but a few months ago there was a Vietnam-style fragging of an officer in Iraq. Reuters reports today that the military is recommending that the perpetrator get the death penalty. This sentence from the Reuters account struck me darkly humorous:

During the probe, the prosecutors said a court martial should try the case since the crime was committed at a time of war but the defense disagreed, saying the United States was not engaged in hostile activities in Iraq.

The US is not engaged in hostile activities in Iraq? -- someone should tell that to these guys.
